ET-PP WP2/WP3 joint workshop

The aim of this joint workshop is to explore the options of financial models and clarify how these options relate to three legal frameworks commonly used for large Research Infrastructures (RIs): ERIC, IGO and hybrid model, an international convention with an executive national legal entity. This is in the line with one of the ET-PP goals of pursuing the development of a financial model for the Einstein Telescope Gravitational Wave Observatory, once the final legal structure will be chosen. During the workshop the following main questions will be addressed:

  • Integration of in-kind contributions;
  • Balance of cash and in-kind ratio depending on the stage of the RI;
  • Mass production of components for the RI;
  • Flexible procurement policies and restricted tendering;
  • VAT exemption for goods and services;
  • HR schemes and attractiveness.

We are glad to have as keynote participants:

  • Antonio Bonucci (Head of Industrial Liaison office and In-Kind Contribution – XFEL GmbH)
  • Nadia Defrancesco (Interim Head of Administration & Head of Finance – CTAO)
  • Theresa Devaney (Head of Strategy – SKAO)
  • Ian Hastings (Head of Procurement Services – SKAO)
  • Allen Weeks (Direct General of ELI and Vice-Chair of Eric Forum)
  • Florian Weissbach (Head of Finance and Business Control – ESS)

There is the possibility of remote participation to the meeting (select the option in Registration).

This workshop is organised by WP2 and WP3 of ET-PP, contact Chiara Arina (chiara.arina@uclouvain.be) or Miriam E.H. Roelofs (m.roelofs@nwo-i.nl) for questions.
