How to reach Perugia
Perugia is connected by air, rail, and road. The historic centre, where the conference takes place, is largely pedestrian, but it is easily accessible via efficient local transport systems. For planning your journey and navigating connections in real time, Google Maps is a reliable and widely used reference for transportation options.
✈️ By Air
The nearest airport is Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi Airport (PEG), located about 12 km from the city center. It offers connections to several European destinations. From the airport, you can reach the city by: Airlink Bus: a direct shuttle connecting the airport to Perugia’s main transport hubs (including the train station and city center). Taxi: available outside the arrivals area (approx. 20 minutes to the center). For more international connections, consider flying to Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO), followed by a train or bus to Perugia.
🚆 By Train
Perugia is served by Perugia Railway Station, with regular connections to major cities such as Rome, Florence, and Milan. From the train station to the historic center: Minimetrò: a modern light rail system that takes you uphill directly to the city center (final stop: Pincetto). Bus: several urban lines connect the station to different parts of the city. Taxi: available outside the station.
🚌 By Bus (FlixBus, Sulga and others)
Long-distance buses, including FlixBus and Sulga, connect Perugia to many Italian and European cities. Most buses stop at or near Piazza Partigiani Bus Terminal, which is a key access point to the historic centre via an escalator.
🚶 Local transport to the historic centre
Since the city center is located on a hill and has restricted traffic, the following options are recommended: Minimetrò: connects the lower city (including parking areas and train station) to the upper historic center (Pincetto terminal). Escalators from Piazza Partigiani: a convenient system of covered escalators takes you directly from the bus terminal up to the historic center. Airlink Bus: also stops at key locations close to the center. Local buses: operated by Busitalia Umbria.
The local transport share the same ticke "UP – UNICO PERUGIA" which allows travel on:
- all Busitalia urban bus lines within the municipalities of Perugia, Corciano, and Torgiano;
- the Minimetrò.
🚗 By Car
If arriving by car, note that the historic center has restricted traffic (ZTL). It is recommended to park at: Piazza Partigiani (connected via escalator to Piazza d'Italia) Pian di Massiano (connected via Minimetrò to Pincetto station) Perugia’s compact layout and integrated transport system make reaching the conference venue straightforward, even without a car.
