Summary

Collaboration Growth and Site Selection

Harald, chairing the monthly meeting in Michele's absence, provided a report on the collaboration's growth to 1,962 members across 95 research units and 284 institutions. He highlighted the Executive Board's focus on the detector pre-TDR, a deliverable due in spring, and the establishment of regular meetings between ETO, the collaboration, and local host teams to improve communication and resource sharing. Harald also discussed the formation of the Site Selection Criteria Committee, chaired by Andrew Harrison, which aims to develop criteria for selecting ET sites by May next year, and encouraged feedback on improving meeting attendance.

ISB Updates and Leadership Changes

Stefan provided updates on ISB activities, including the preliminary detector design report (TDR) writing process, which is under time pressure and involves a team of writers with a deadline of December 15th. He also discussed ongoing discussions with the program committee led by Etryma Urana about efficiency improvements and restructuring within ISB, particularly in the suspension division. Additionally, Stefan mentioned the formation of CERN competence teams on infrastructure topics, with ISB having a role in providing input on requirements for ventilation, vibration, and electrical engineering. Patrice Verdier, the new collaboration board chair, presented the process for electing a new spokesperson and deputy spokesperson, which involves nominations by December 10th and a multi-round election process.

OSB Progress and Division Updates

The meeting covered updates on OSB activities, including the completion of figure permissions and the submission of white papers by December 15th, with Division 6's contribution already circulated for comments. New division coordinators were announced, and the OSB roadmap, which aims to foster collaborations between divisions, is being integrated into the core program. ESO's expanding horizons timeline was discussed, with urgent submissions required from various divisions. The ET Annual Meeting updates included progress on computing needs and MTC plans, with an updated MTC code available for discussion in Division 10. Domenico presented on SCB activities, highlighting engineering studies and project updates for the Sardinia site, including noise impact estimation and underground infrastructure designs. Harald concluded by reflecting on meeting participation and suggested exploring ways to make the meetings more engaging and relevant to a broader audience.
