Description
While in the Observational Sciences, a thorough review of simulation and pipeline codes is the norm since many years, a similar review process is missing in the Instrument Sciences. With the immense costs of ET and logistical challenges of operating underground in mind, we can no longer afford to base crucial design decision on poorly reviewed simulations. Instead, we need to switch to a mode where such simulations are open, well-documented and independently vetted. Within the Model and Design Tools workpackage, we have started to compile guidelines and procedures for a multi-tiered review process, supporting the needs and challenges of simulations in the instrument sciences. Here we will present the current status and outline our thoughts on implementing such a review process.
